About Us
Who’s involved?
The Upper wye valley nature partnership
A farm cluster group has been formed to represent the key stakeholders. comprising of farm tenants across the Duchy of Cornwall and Moccas Estates, Woodland Trust and Natural England.

Description of project area
The project area hosts three National Nature Reserves (NNR’s), including Moccas Park, The Flits and the newly designated Gillian’s Wood.
To the north, low-lying, fertile land is bounded by the River Wye, and to the South, land rises steeply to a limestone ridge, providing stunning, expansive views across the neighbouring Golden Valley, and beyond to the Black Mountains.
Geological processes have created a diverse and productive landscape that hosts a mosaic of woodlands, parklands, meres, farmland and floodplains.
Throughout the ages, human influence has played a huge role in shaping the landscape, providing a rich heritage still visible today.
More recent, recognisable parkland and leisure grounds still exist in the Repton and Brown designed estate grounds scattered throughout the area.
Stakeholder Engagement
Ridge to River is governed by our Steering Group, consisting of landowners, farmers and professionals from a range of organisations.
The project has facilitated a farm cluster group, to engage with participants, share knowledge and co-design the project delivery plans.
Wider stakeholder engagement is delivered through established groups such as the Wye Catchment Partnership and Local Nature Partnership. We aim to build our communications throughout the project development phase and ensure we consider feedback from wider community groups.
